Incomprehensible Phenomenon

Hi Everybody!

I am working for one of Coke bottlers in Korea.

We are using the VMWare ESX 3.02 servers based on three IBM x3850s.

I have experianced an incomprehensible status with the memory allocation graph in the attached file. During that time, I had a performance problem.

We have WAS server for sales PDAs.

The problem was that inbound requests were fine in the guest. However, outbound requests to outside DB server(it is not VM) were seems like very slow. It solved suddenly without any actions by us after 1 hour. At that time, network and DB servers performance were fine.

The Guest OS's memory status was fine but Virtual center showed red memory alert about that guest. It showed again after reboot . When shutdown the guest, other servers still seemed like slow.

Our service provider told me that there is no problem in VMware and they think it caused by a WORM.

However, I don't agree with their opnion and think reasonable.

My question is,

1. Why the memory allocation graph showed like that?

2. A WORM realy cause a performance problem like their explaination?
