How to improve the speed of extracting data from VMware ?

Hi,

I'm trying to pull data for 80+ servers from VMware in order to prepare the monthly report. I spent about 1 whole day to get the data fully extract to my local machine.

This is very time consuming. Could anyone advice how can i improve the speed of extracting the data from VMware to my local machine? Appreciate someones help here. Thanks!

What data are you trying to collect?.

Could you not collect this data from the VC server?

Hi vyona,

Extracting a months worth of data for 80 servers will take a while.

I would suggest the way to simplify and speed up the exersize, is to pull the data into whatever you are using to create your report on a more regular basis. You might have a quiet period overnight where you could let an automated script pull the data you require from Virtual Center once a day, or more frequently.

Here at Metron most people use our agent to collect data from the Virtual Center system every 15mins. This is then ready in our Athene software for producing the end of month report.
