I have a performance question concerning booting ESX v3.5 & 4 from SAN. I would seem to me that even with a boot from SAN a proper design would be to have the SWAP space be located on a local disk to each ESX host. That way you would not be sending all you swap activity over the SAN thus maintaining a lower latency and improving performance. I would like to know how others have addressed this question and there results. If anyone can provide some input that would be great.
I would also like to know the advantages of booting from a SAN versus booting form a local disk for ESX.
