Greetings,
My apologies if this is basic knowledge, I am a bit new to VMware. I am troubleshooting some issues that seem oriented around networking or storage, and am looking to expand the collection intervals for specific statistics.
For example, I am only interested in Read Latency and Average Read Requests Per Second for Storage, statistics that are currently only logged in real-time.
I see the vCenter Server Settings>Statistics>Statistical Intervals configuration screen, but is there no location to specify expanded collection intervals for specific statistical data? This seems like it would be a handy feature, allowing in depth troubleshooting without the issues associated with collecting data for all other statistics at a specific statisticas level.
Alternatively, would there be a solution to query the vCenter server and return the raw real-time statistics via PowerCLI or some other option that could be automated to run every hour on each host?
Your insight would be greatly appreciated!
Regards,
W
Hi
For troubleshooting and collect only specific data use esxtop in batch mode
http://vmwaremine.com/2011/08/10/how-to-use-esxtop-or-resxtop-in-batch-mode/
good luck
Just stood up a vMA VM in our test environment and am getting started with resxtop. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction, this seems like it will be a great resource!
On a side note, I clicked mark as helpful, and the mark as correct button disappeared. Is this by design?
