Upgrade to SHD 2.0.5 : Failed

Jump to solution

Hi guys,

I tried to update the appliance but it failed.
When I look in upgrade history summary, I have this:

StatusDescriptionSource VersionTarget Version
FailedRead manifest failed2.0.42.0.5

Is there a log where I can check what happened?

Thanks.

Regards,

Stephane

Was the update check performed post downloading the updates? This is seen in case use checks for updates post downgliding the updates. If that happens, the manifest will be overwritten by check workflow.

You can try to download the updates again and reboot the VM immediately. That should help the update to complete.

-Thanks

Ram

Hi!

I just installed SHD 2.0.4 yesterday, and I have the same problem.

Two observations, I don't know if they help anyone:

/opt/vmware-shd/vmware-shd/updates/manifest/ contains a file manifest-latest.xml that contains

<fullVersion>2.0.0</fullVersion>

<description>Skyline Health Diagnostics for vSphere Version 2.0.0</description>

<releaseDate>2020-08-05T10:00:00Z</releaseDate>

That looks already a little bit off.

The update is downloaded and stored as /opt/vmware-shd/vmware-shd/updates/package-pool/vmware-shd-patch-2.0.5-17790475.tgz, but doesn't seem to contain a manifest (maybe it's hidden in a shell script).

I second the OPs question: The location of any relevant log files could help.

That did indeed work. Thanks!

But I guess, all in all the process could be made a little bit more robust 😉

Hi Ram,

It also works for me! Thanks.

I've another question!
In 2.0.5, I'm not able to see VCG entries, IO Device, CPU Series, Server and vSAN HCL in the VCG Update tab.
Is it normal?

Here a screenshot from the V2.0.4:

Thanks.

@VSnip I see that the summary is missing in the UI. Will review and update, Thanks for reporting.
