False positive on vSphere-PSODPktListPop-KB#87489

This weekend I got a notification for finding ID vSphere-PSODPktListPop-KB#87489, which indicates that my qfle3 driver needs to be updated. The package in the KB includes version 1.4.25 for qfle3, and I am already on 1.4.35.

@doddsington, please confirm the KB article that you are referring to? With the KB number you've got, it takes us to this KB? Here, I see the Qlogic driver version discussed are 2.0.182.0 for ESXi 6.7 and Version 3.0.182.0 for ESXi 7.0.

If you think your queries have been answered, Mark this response as "Correct" or "Helpful" and consider giving kudos to appreciate!

Regards,
Shen

Yes, that is the correct KB. Qlogic's "version" is a package version, none of the drivers are actually numbered that. The 3.0.182 package for ESXi 7.0 includes qfle3 driver version 1.4.25.

I too am scratching my head on this one

Why did we get this notice in Dec 2022 when the driver and solution are listed as 12/23/21?

Skyline Finding Finding ID vSphere-PSODPktListPop-KB#87489
This issue is resolved in the following versions of Qlogic driver: ESXi 6.7 : Version 2.0.182.0 or ESXi 7.0: Version 3.0.182.0.

Takes us to KB  https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/87489
And that KB provides the following driver:

I'm having the exact same issue as well with Skyline showing the this critical finding. I opened up a support case and they are investigating. My driver is also 1.4.35, which is newer than the KB even links to. Support said it is probably a bug in Skyline but they need to dig further and get back to me. They said a few others have reported it too.

Firmware Version: Storm: 7.13.20.0 MFW: 7.15.56

Same exact issue.  Does support want us opening cases or what?

This showed in our skyline in last days. We have HP FlexFabric 10Gb 2-port 536FLB Adapter, which have on HCL version 1.4.17.0 as latest.

Now what? Update to unsupported version?

What is interesting, vmware recommends 1.4.25, but there is also 1.4.35 which fixes PSOD when collecting vm-support dumps

Available from HPE Document - Advisory: HPE SimpliVity - HPE SimpliVity Platforms Running VMware ESXi 6.7 / 7.0 May Exp...

ESXi 7.0: Version 1.4.35.0 (May 24, 2022) Internal FW: 7.13.20
Fixes:
------
1. FJT-8341: Recursive panic occurs when capturing VM-Support dump.

Changes: Avoid indirect register read while collecting fw dump in crash time.
Indirect access is not designed for massive register access and can
lead to timeouts and other problems.

ESXi 6.7: Version 1.1.25.0 (Nov 12, 2021) Internal FW: 7.13.20
ESXi 7.0: Version 1.4.25.0 (Nov 12, 2021) Internal FW: 7.13.20
Fixes:
------------
1. FJT-7614: System is crashing with PSOD upon clean reboot.

Changes: Wait for reset recovery to finish during reboot. Avoid executing reboot
handler if reset recovery takes too long.
