vSphere Replication House Keeping

Hey all,

Does anyone have any tips for some housekeeping with respect to datastores and "zombie" replication data? We've got a number of datastores (just over 10) that are used as vSphere Replication targets and these are currently somewhat full.

I've not been able to find any efficient method of determining what is junk data in these datastores other than reviewing these manually which is incredibly tedious and error-prone (ie. locate files within a datastore that have a modified year or 2020 or earlier, then confirm if this virtual machine is not replicated). I define junk data as data that has been replicated but is no longer associated with an active replication job, this is usually due to someone force stopping a replication job.

Some of these replicated virtual machines aren't even configured for SRM failover so they don't even have any placeholders.

Any tips would be much appreciated!!

Thanks.
