upgrade SRM in recovery site before protected site

Hi 

Vcenter upgraded to 7.0.3, while the SRM is still 8.2\windows platform,

I’m thinking to upgrade SRM from 8.2 windows to 8.3 appliance, then 8.5 appliances,

Is it OK to upgrade the recovery site before the protected site,

Considering that SRM8.2 is currently linked with vcenter 7.0.3 ,

this should not affect the production VM’s?
