Virtual machine already protected

Hi

Team has failed to unprotect the VM while migrating between datastore. Currently the VM on new protection group while trying to enable the protection throws error message " The virtual machine is already protected " .

VM is not available in any other protection group and recovery plan. I have noticed VM attribute "SRM-com.vmware.vcDr:::protected  vm-38570 Global"  .

How can remove SRM protected value to re enable the SRM

Hi

You can delete the VM from the recovery site and then configured it for protection again.

Let us know if you fix your problem.

Try this:

1 - Change the name of the VM on production side and reconfigure the replication again.

2- To remedy browse the SRM placeholder datastore, after you remove your protection group, remove any left over folders in the datastore. After that, check the VM inventory, if any protected servers remain right click on each one and select remove from inventory.

Once all the old data is removed you can re-create your protection group and all the servers should be re-added without issue.

Could you unregister the VM from source and re-register it again. After this protect the VM.

This will change the VM UUID in vmx file.
