Unable to Protect VM Template

Hi

I’m getting the following error in SRM, when trying to protect a Template:

Virtual Machine could not be created on recovery site: Resource pool, datastore and host specified for shadow virtual machine are not compatible with each other

Notes:

- We're using the VCB 1.5u1 build 102898; ESX 3.5u3; vCenter 2.5u4 with (working) EqualLogic iSCSI

- If I convert the template to a VM, I can configure protection

- If I convert it back, then configure protection, it immediately fails (in recent tasks) with the above error, then prompts me to select the target datastore, cluster (unable to select a host), network, and temp vm recovery files. Then an error box appears with the error.

- All other VMs in the Protected Group are protected.

I think I might have answered my own question...

RebootingvCenter, then recreating the Protection Group allowed me to protect the VM template

I'm seeing a similar message when trying to create a protection group:

"virtual machine could not be created on recovery site: Resource pool, datastore and host specified for shadow virtual machine are not compatible with each other"

Environment: VC 2.5 / ESX 3.5U3 / SRM 1.0.1-128004

It can be resolved a few different ways (including disconnecting ESX, deleting vpxuser, and reconnecting), but trying to figure out root cause...
