Storwize(v7000 ibm) and SRM

hi guys

We are going to deploy 2 Storwize Site A and Site B (backup site).

my coworker says that since replication is going to be available SRM is not needed....but I think it is so it will simplify the recovery activities?

Am I right?

or since using replication I can recover my site A in B manually?

and also what are the two types or replication? which is preferred? SRM or SAN replication?

thanks a lot

Here is the error I m getting

on step 8. Change Recovery Site Storage to Writeable

Error - Failed to promote replica devices. SRA command 'failover' failed. Error connecting to CIM. Refer to IBM SAN Volume Controller troubleshooting Failed

Seems that SRA is not talking to the storage for recovery, but for testrecovery everything went smothly, it has created snapshot and everything was ok,

I m using :

SRA: IBMSVCSRA_v2.0.0.120516

SRM: SRM 5.0

v7000: 6.3.0

anyone has got an idea how the scripts failover.pl is not going through while the scripts testfailoverstart.pl is going through

A new SRA was just released.  IBMSVCSRA_v2.1.0.120531 posted 6/14/2012.  This one supports iSCSI and looks like there are a few fixes as well.

Where can the latest one be obtained from? The one you mention is not listed on the IBM ftp site --> ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/storage/ds_open_api/VMWARE/SVC_SRA/

Latest one on the ftp site is IBMSVCSRA_v2.0.0.120516.zip. . . May 18 11:36

Timing can be a funny thing.  I just checked to make sure it was still there and now it looks like they just updated it with one called IBMSVCSRA_v2.1.0.120618 which was just posted this evening at 7:36 PM.  Looks like I better update if that last one was so short lived.

Just an update.  I downloaded that newer SRA and installed...but the install did a repair so it seems that it was the same one I referenced earlier...they just updated the version number.  With that being said, I finally got ro run my first test recovery today and it worked without a problem.  Hopefully I can do a full failover to test the problems that were encountered in the posts above.

Did you make any progress on this.  I finally got to test a full failover and I'm getting an error at the same step except rather than stating "error connecting to CIM" it states "Invalid connection parameters".

I'm running IBM SVC code 6.3.0.3 at DR site and 6.3.0.1 at the primary site.  IBM SRA is IBMSVCSRA_v2.1.0.120618.

The test recovery works perfectly.

IBMSVCSRA_v2.1.0.120916.zip59.8 MB9/27/2012 19:36

has someone tested the last one IBMSVCSRA_v2.1.0.120916.zip to check if it's supported with SRM 5.1 and SVC-v7000 6.4?

or at least SRM 5.1 and SVC-v7000 6.3.x?
