SRM upgrade 4.0.3 to 5.0.1

Hi All,

I have a question re: SRM upgrade path.

Current scenario:

2 x sites

vCenter 4.0.3 and SRM 4.0.3.

I need to migrate to vCenter and SRM 5.0.1.

I see from the solution upgrade path advisory under the VMware Product Interop matrixes that this should be a two-step upgrade to retain SRM/vCenter compatibility throughout.

Step 1

vCenter 4.0.3 to 4.1.2

SRM 4.0.3 - 4.1.2

Step 2

vCenter 4.1.2 to 5.0.1

SRM 4.12 to 5.0.1

My question:

Does anyone know if I can do this in a single step:

vCenter 4.0.3 to vCenter 5.0.1 (<- this step is supported)

SRM 4.0.3 to 4.1.2 then 5.0.1

I understand that during the process SRM will not be supported.

I am curious to know if skipping the vCenter 4.1.2 step will cause any issues on the SRM side of things.
I have not been able to find any documentation to validate this either way.

Appreciate any advice!

Thanks
Daniel

Hi,

Not absolutely sure, but I think that if you upgrade vCenter 4.0.3 to vCenter 5.0.1, then upgrade of SRM from 4.0.3 to 4.1.2 won't succeed.
