Hi All,
we are deploying SRM vSPhere replication. I have two questions, if you can answer or introduce some docs, it would be greatly appreciated:
1- since we are using vsphere replication, what is the best practice for situation where guest OS is using iSCSI initiator? any caveats?
2- in the testing stage, I've reprotected VM from recovery site to protected site. I've chose initial LUN in protect site for vSphere replication, it appears it's doing full synchronization or replication. is it supposed to be quicker and just replicate changes?
thanks again
Alex
You can found documentation here: VMware vSphere Replication Documentation and about reprotect, what SRM version are you using ?
Anyway, in case you're using SRM 5.1, reprotect is supported with VR and will only sync changes made to the .vmdk.
More info: Failback of Virtual Machines in vSphere Replication
thanks for suggestions, unfortunately we are using 5.0.3 and can't do reprotect automatically.
do you have any recommendation for guest OS iscsi initiator? how does SRM handle this situation?
Neither SRM nor vSphere Replication have native ability to perform any sort of replication or protection of in-guest iSCSI. Data must be on a VMDK for vSphere Replication.
