SRM & SVC ReturnCode Error

hi guys.

first of all: my english isn't that good, but i'll do my best that anyone can understand me. Smiley Wink

now to the problem. we want to install an srm infrastructure with an svc cluster 2145.

so i installed VMware-srm-4.0.0-192921 and the IBMSVCSRA_v1.1.91029

then i configured the array managers.

When i connect to my cim server (ip:5989) i can see an array id and the correct model (2145) so the connection was successful.

after that i click ok and i can see a recent task in virutal center. then the error occoure:

after 23% status appeares the following error message: Invalid XML returned from SRA: Failed to get node ReturnCode.

in the log files i found this: //the log file is attached

discoverLuns exited with exit code 0

'discoverLuns' returned <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>

after asking google for help i found an IBM Statement that every SVC Host has to include the letters "vmware" in their names.

i did that, restarted the srm service but still the same problem.

hi dc...

thanks for your response...

yes i've already seen this thread and i configured my infrastructure with the SVC SRM user guide.

i also found a thread with the same problem on a ds4000. http://communities.vmware.com/thread/166877;jsessionid=24410972DEDBE6644026385A74913F24

it seems to be an failure in a perl script. but the problem is that svcsra use other scripts than the sra from the ds.

any other ideas?

thank you

This setup doc may also help - http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-11540.

I have seen the issue you observed, and i did address it by fixing the names of the ESX hosts initiator records on the SVC to contain the 'vmware' string.

You need to do this at both the protected and recovery sites.

Hopefully this doc will give you some additional guidance.

the names of my hosts in svc includes the string 'vmware'

is their an other thing i have to change?

as i already said... i think the problem comes from a script failure.

the problem is similar to this one:

http://communities.vmware.com/thread/166877;jsessionid=24410972DEDBE6644026385A74913F24</span>

he just has to change the 'Returncode' to 'ReturnCode'

more ideas?

thanks guys

Hello I am experiencing the same error as you using sra 1.1.91029.

I have not installed active perl on my w2k8 srm server. Nor has my san group placed "vmware" in the server host objects. I am not sure exactly where this needs to go.

Do you think one of the above two issues is my problem?

Did you resolve your error?

Thanks

We canceled this project. The IBM Support Case that i created just informed us to update to a newer srm version asap.

good luck.

The latest SVC SRA is IBM SVC Storage Replication Adapter Version 1.20.10713 | Released 07/27/2010.

You can find it on the SRM Download page.
