SRM Failed Testing Recovery Plan

Hi All,

I am in the process of testing my recovery plan. But whenever I run my test, i get this error message. Any idea what could be causing this error?

Error: Non-fatal error information reported during execution of SRA: testFailover Output:

[02/25 21:01:24 04080 CopyLuns.cpp 0497 CopyLuns::GetCopyInfo ] [ERROR]: A valid CopyInfo block could not be found in the options file that has Symm. Exiting with failure

[02/25 21:01:24 04080 CopyLuns.cpp 0023 CopyLuns::CopyLuns ] [ERROR]: Failed to fetch CopyInfo from the options file. Exiting with failure

[02/25 21:01:24 04080 EmcSrdfSra.cpp 1001 wmain ] [ERROR]: Failed to test failover luns. Exiting with failure

Error:

Any help would be appreciated.

The shadow copy LUNs that you need on the recovery site aren't correctly configured, SRM doesn't have enough rights or you are missing the correct licenses. By the looks of it you are working with an EMC Symmetrix. Please provide more info with regards to your configuration.

The weird thing is it used to work before and then somehow it just failed recently

My configs are:

Protected Site (All components below are hosted in a single VM)

     OS - W2K8 R2 64bit

     vCenter 4.1

     SRM 4.1

     EMCSRDFSRA 2.2.0.3

Solution Enabler 7.2 and accessing a remote Sym Server

No problem during set-up. When running the Test for reccovery, I encountered the problem.

And what happens when you do Run a real failover? Does it work then?

Yes, it was working before both test and real failover.

Ok, so it worked and all of a sudden it didn't anymore. Then you'll have to figure out what changed.

Do you know if something was changed recently : update? storage configuration? etc.

Has your Storage team recently upgraded the firmware on the array?

nothing has really changed. That's why I find it weird. By the way, the emcsrdfsraoptions.xml looks like there is nothing in it. Who will edit this file by the way? Will the EMCSRDF SRA edit this file?

Make sure you have the following licenses installed for EMC :

SYMAPI Feature: BASE / Symmetrix

SYMAPI Feature: SERVER / Symmetrix

SYMAPI Feature: SRDF / Symmetrix

SYMAPI Feature: TF/CG / Symmetrix

SYMAPI Feature: TF-Clone / Symmetrix

And reconfigure your configuration by following the whitepaper : http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/VMware_SRM_SRDF_bestpractices.pdf

It's not possible that you don't change anything and the configuration breaks. So if you don't know what changed, you'll have to start from scratch. That or either call in the help of EMC to resolve your issue.

As I mentioned before, there can be several reasons :

- Shadowcopy LUNs aren't configured correctly anymore

- Licenses aren't availble

- Security (Gatekeepr ACL) has been modified
