SRM DR Infrastructure for Testing

Greetings!

We have an SRM 6.0 setup (active/passive) using vSphere Replication, 8 nodes per site with Storwize V7000.

We are investigating using the idle DR cluster as a dev/test environment, until it is required in the event of a disaster.

Are there any implications in using these hosts for dev/test until such time we run a recovery plan?

Hi Shervinn,

That is perfectly valid use case for SRM. In fact, you can configure your recovery plans to suspend any test/dev VMs in the idle site until such time as your production workload has started and secured sufficient resources. Then you can unsuspend the test VMs as required.
