SRM 5U1 and IBM DS3524 'discoverArrays' failed

Hello everybody,

I'm having trouble in configuring SRA with IBM DS3520.

When I'm going to add an array manager, the wizard returns an error "Unable to add array manager - SRA command 'discoverArrays' failed. Invalid Subsystem Connection Parameters: One or both IP addresses is invalid. IP1=192.168.0.210 IP2=192.168.0.211. Re-enter configuration information and retry operation".

I have a primary site with 2 hosts and 1 DS3524 (all in the IP range 192.168.0.0/24) and a secondary site (all in the IP range 192.168.0.0/24) connected over a lan (no firewall). vCenters are 5U1 (build 623373) and the hosts are 5U1 (build 702118). SRM is 5U1 (build 633117) and SRAs are 05.00.3550.0017.

Connection between sites, resource folder and network mappings, placeholder datastores are ok, DB is up. I can ping the 4 disk controllers.

In a lab installation with the same storage hardware it did install correctly, but with hosts 5U1 with NO UPDATE (build 623860).

Any suggestion?

I opened a SR in VMware, and they asked me to send some logs. After 2 hours, this is the reply:

As a next action i advise you to contact IBM to review SRA logs.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I think this is a little bit easy for VMware....

Hello Massimo, How are you ?

Did you try with firmware update over storage system ?

Regards!

Did you reboot your SRM server after you installed the SRA?

Sounds stupied but this resolves 90% of the problems like this Smiley Happy I had the same when I tried to add my EMC storage. After the reboot everything worked great.

Regards,

Mario

The f/w is the latest available. Yes, I rebooted the server (many times...).

I solved by myself, adding a "management ip" to the SRM servers and to the 4 controllers. Now the SRA configuration ended succesfully, not on the lan ip (192.168.0.XXX) but on the management ip (172.16.50.XXX).

IBM and VMware support did not helped.
