I have a customer who doesn't allow stretched VLANs, I'm therefore in the position where I need to configure protected servers to change IP addresses on the protected servers if a recovery plan is invoked..... My concern is with SQL servers, which they have a considerable amount of that need protecting, I know SQL server name changes are a big no no, however I'm unsure what effect changing the IP address would have, therefore if SRM would be the most appropriate solution in this environment. Versions of SQL ranging from 2000-2008 R2, as they are migrating ser vice currently.
Hi,
AFAIK, there are no issues with changing IP address of SQL server.
Make sure DNS is getting updated and all clients and applications use DNS names to connect to SQL.
Michael.
Thanks
