Installation Error-Failed to create database tables

During the installation of SRM, I receive the following error:

Failed to create database tables. Details: DB does not contain SRM schema: VdbError: Column name does not exist in table dr_product_info

The SRM documentation states the schema name must be the same as the DB user name which I have verified. Does anyone have a fix for this error?

This is the error you get when the user who is connecting to the DB is not the

owner of the DB. Because of this, the

user does not have the privileges to view some columns in the table.

If you change the owner of the DB to the user that you are using to connect to the DB, then you should be able to complete the installation.

Today,I try to modify the SRM database for SQL SERVER 2005,securityloginserver roles--set the following permission:

bulk insert,connect,create table,create view.

reference to 'Site Recovery Manager Administration Guide'.resolve the problem.

i am seeing this in the srm logs

Intializing the DBManager

Connection: Could not connect to database: -1

DBManager error: Could not initialize Vdb connection: ODBC error: (28000) - [SQL Native Client][SQL Server]Login failed for user 'domain\SRM$'.

Application initialization error: Could not initialize Vdb connection: ODBC error: (28000) - [SQL Native Client][SQL Server]Login failed for user 'domain\SRM$'.

Are you using Windows Authentication on a remote SQL server - if you are - are you aware its not supported?

Windows authentication is only supported if the SQL instances is local to the SRM...

Putting that aside you should not need DB_OWNER on the SRM tables...

These instructions show how to set the right DB privileges on SQL Express and worked with SQL 2005...

Ah good - I wish this was included in the core admin PDF for VMware - and not just for MS SQL, but for other DB vendors such as Oracle and IBM DB2......
