Get backups from DR site

We are going to implement primary vsphere site and DR site. Primary site replicate to DR site through vmware srm. I want to know can we get backup from DR site using symantec netbackup application. What are the major advantage and disadvantage of this? Thanks

The VMs at DR site will contain just configuration files until you do a failover, this way no make sense make backup of your VMs in DR site. You must backup your VMs at primary site.

Thanks Richardson,

One more question. I want to know VMware SRM level that DR site virtual machines running on stand by mode or active level mode. Every second DR site replicate with primary site or not?

Thanks

SRM is not a replication solution, it is an automation and orchestration solution for DR, DA & site migration. SRM utilizes either vSphere Replication or Array Based Replication (managed by SRM through an SRA). With either of these replication solutions the data of the VM is replicated to the recovery site but as mentioned previously the VM that shows in inventory is a placeholder, not the actual VM, so it can't be powered on (doesn't run in "standby mode", etc)

Any VM that you protect with SRM will already be replicated either with vSphere Replication (done on a per VM basis) or Array Based Replication (all VMs on a replicated datastore can be protected).

Does this answer your questions?
