Failed to update embedded paths in virtual machine file

When running a test of recovery plan (NetApp NFS storage), the following warning appears in the history:

Failed to update embedded paths in virtual machine file '/vmfs/volumes/deec6d19-efb6a266/.snapshot/vf_recoverydatacentre_company_5(1573890513)_eVDC_RecoveryDataCentre_Company_Loc_Vol16.1741/Protected DC Test VM 4/Protected DC Test VM 4.vmx'. Unable to access file

It's looks as if there's some problem with permissions on the RW snapshot created on Recovery DataCenter NetApp.

However, this only happens for 2 out of 3 of the NFS datastores.  One of them is OK, and I get no warnings.

Any ideas on what may be causing this warning?

Thanks in advance,

IR8

Did you find an answer to this? Google is not helping me and I have it as a poc in my lab right now.

Thanks!

Hi vSchu

Apols for the delayed response.  We raised a ticket with VMWare support on this. They advised to set nosnapdir=on (which effectively means that the snapshot directory is invisible) on the volume, and the warnings disappeared.

Good luck
