I am using Vmware's customization manager to change the ip of my vm when i fail over. However, the problem is if you have 2 NICS you "must" specify a gateway for each NIC card.
That's a problem, since you shouldn't have 2 gateways
Question, how do you setup a customization to ONLY change the IP address? I have only been able to step through creating a customization that asks for product ID, joining domain, all of that. All I need to do is script changing all the IP addresses on my DR side, not only for testing but also for a true disaster. Thanks....
As I understand it SRM U1... introduced a new method of changing the IP of the VM
Rather than using the Guest Customization Wizard - you can use CSV file method...
This might off a better way of doing bulk IP resets.... it's either that or stretched VLANs

Hello Mike,
Where can I find a document about csv file method?
Not sure - I've not had time to look at U1. Been too busy with vi4 beta... is it not explained in the offical PDF guide?
It's mentioned in the release notes...

I found the info in the SRM Admin guide. There is a lot of customization that is needed to get the IP information changed but in my environment it is not that big of a deal. Thanks for reminding me of the DR import tool.
There is a small part about dr-ip-reporter.exe but I need some detailed information as I don't understand it very much.
Onur,
What detailed questions do you have after reading the guide? If we've been incomplete or missed important details, it would be great to know so that we can improve the docs.
Thanks,
Jay
I am not good at using commands.
Anyway, I could do it with VI client customization specification.
But now I have another question. Do I have to create a customization specification for each VM?
I think, you will say no using dr-ip-reporter.exe?

If you don't use the bulk method of changing IP addresses - you will need 1 guest customization setup for EACH VM - which is admin intensive.
I'm not sure its the dr-ip-reporter tool you use to do the bulk changes of IP by a CSV file. To be honest I've not looked at U1 in any detail yet - been to busy with Vi4...
Jay, can you advise?
