Based on what Does VMware SRM 8.4 take a decision to start recover activity on DR site

Hello,

All document i had read said SRM will protect VMs in case a main site fail, however what if loss network connectivity between sites or other reason !

So i want to know what's the reason make SRM start recover VMs in DR-Site.

Hi @Rayes ,

SRM does not perform automatic failover. Planned migration/Disaster recovery is performed manually(by a user) depending upon scenarios, so there is no false positive failovers.

@Rayes , Yes that's right. If Site-A goes down, you need to login from Site-B and perform recovery of required plans.

Does VMware provide an automatic solution to protect VMs between sites.

SRM orchestrates and automates certain recovery tasks (Recover multiple VMs, storage mount, VM register, IP customization, custom power on scripts,etc.) for you when triggered. SRM works with two replication technologies: vSphere replication and storage based replication.

SRM itself does not replicate any objects. SRM can either be combined with vSphere replication or a storage array level replication for recovery tasks:

I am not aware of any automatic failover solutions from VMware.
