VM Individual Security Apps

Hello,

This question might be kind of silly,,, but I have to ask. I'm running VMware Workstation 6 - for the host, I have Vista, and for the guest OS I've installed Ubuntu, XP, and I'm in the process of installing Mac OS X 10.4.8. My question is, do I need to apply some sort of (internet) security application to the individual guest systems if I already have a security application running on the host... each of my guests are configured to access the internet through the host.

Any advice is greatly appreciated,

Thank you,

Hello,

In general, yes, always secure your VMs. However, if you are using NAT based networking, the host networking will protect the VMs. If you are not using NAT then your VMs must be secured.

The general rule: ALWAYS secure your VMs.
