I have seen a lot of postings regarding NSA/US certifications, however I was wondering about UK CESG certification.
so does anybody know what level the UK have certified ESX or even if it has been put forward to CESG for anytype of certification?
Hello,
ESX 2.5 and VC 1.2 received Common Criteria certification at EAL2 on 27 March 2006: http://www.commoncriteriaportal.org/public/files/epfiles/ST_VID10056-VR.pdf
ESX 3.0 and VC 2.0 are under evaluation for Common Criteria certification at EAL 4+ : http://www.cse-cst.gc.ca/services/common-criteria/ongoing-evals-e.html

Judging by the lack of response nobody in the UK have every consided CESG certification. I find the lack of a comment by VMware disconcerting.
The UK CESG web site does not even list VMware as a company under the ITSEC & Common Criteria section of the Web site.
Come on VMware can I have a definitive answer as to UK Certification. either via ITSEC & Common Criteria or the UK standard of CAPS (CESG ASSISTED PRODUCTS SERVICE,

Thank you for your response, do you have any knowledge how long it is until certification has been granted?
Hey Tom,
Not sure I understand your last question, do you mean:
1) How long does EAL-2 last for ESX2?
or
2) When will EAL-4 be granted to ESX3?
I assume you do work with the public sector?
Cheers
Steve
The latter, how soon will EAL-4 status be granted to VI3. and yes I do do work in the public sector but also the private sector, there ar e certain section of that, that will be interested in EAL-4 status.
What do you need it for?
There are now a handful of large scale deployments on 3 that have gained formal accreditation up to IL3 and IL4.
It may be that for what you want to do, you don't need EAL4
I can't really comment on what I need it for,
