Importing OVA/OVF into vSphere 5

I have some OVA's I created from a ESXi4.1 cluster. I tried to import them into a 5.0 cluster but no joy. It said that the operation could not be completed. I tried to import them as an OVF as well with the same issue. Anyone have any ideas? I am now copying the entire datastore folder to some portable media to try.

You will need to provide some more information.

Are you using ovftool or vi client?

If you are using ovftool what version and what does the commandline look like.

I am doing the export from the VI client. I tried to use the OVF tool to change the OVA into an OVF but that still did not work.
