dl 360 4g & esxi would not boot

Hi

I downloaded esxi and burn it to a cd , when I try to boot I get a message that there is not bootable file on cd or usb.

I was able to test my cd drive by installing windows 2003 and it works , I did clear nvram on the Hp still not go ,

here is what is on the CD

Thank you

ESXi is intended to be managed remotely using the vSphere client. I would go through some of the online videos http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-14673 for a better understanding of how ESX(i) is used.

Probably dodgy media.

either do an MD5 check : http://maketecheasier.com/how-to-check-md5-hash/2008/05/06

or re-rip the ISO from scratch.

One day I will virtualise myself . . .

Please don't mind me asking, but how did you burn the the CD? Did you extract the files from the downloaded ISO and burn them to the CD or did you use the "burn image" function to burn the ISO (that's what you need to do)?

Andre

here is what I did , I downloaded the first file called vmware download and it was zip file

then extracted the zip file and got the vmware extracted file

then burned what was inside the  burned vmware files.

Thanks

Seems you have the "hide file extensions" enabled in your Windows system. The file you downloaded is no zip file, it's an ISO file "VMware-VMvisor-Installer-4.1.0.update1-348481.x86_64.iso" and you need to use a CDROM burning applications to burn the file as an image on the CD.

You are welcome.

To burn the image in Windows 7, right click the ISO file and choose "Burn Disc Image".

andre ,

:smileyplain: one more stupid question and I will close this , I run the esxi as you described and I got this yellow screen and I changed the Ip from dhcp to static and provided the root w/ password. then I did restart , I was expecting to see a GUI :smileyconfused:. am I wrong .. what is the purpose of running ESXi by itself.

Thank you
