Hi,

Eventhough This topic has been discussed already, still I am curious to know is there any possibility to run 64 bit OS inside the ESXi 4.1 VM. I am using VMware Workstation 8

I have gone through this thread http://communities.vmware.com/message/1838681

And modified the setting

vhv.enable = "TRUE"

monitor_control.restrict_backdoor = "true"

But now when I try to start the VM, it shows the warning message like below

Is your VM configured for virtual hardware version 8?  If not, go to VM->Manage->Change Hardware Compatibility, and select "Workstation 8."

If your VM is already configured for virtual hardware version 8, please upload your vmware.log file.

virtual hardware version 8 removes the error. Now able to run 64 bit OS
