VMware Server 2.0 inside a guest VM running on ESXi 5.5

I have a client who is currently running a physical server (Windows Server 2008R2) which I will call ServerA, and is running VMware Server 2.0 to run a small Windows Server 2003 VM within the physical server, which I will call ServerB.  The application software running on this 2003 server (ServerB) cannot yet be upgraded to a newer OS, or so I'm being told.  The client is wondering if he could move ServerA away from a physical server and onto a guest VM in an ESXi 5.5 cluster.  So the idea would be to have ServerA become a 2008R2 VM (since I do not believe VMware Server 2.0 will install on a 2012 OS), and then have VMware Server 2.0 running on the new guest VM ServerA.  The VMware Server 2.0 virtualization would then have the 2003 ServerB guest running.

Logically it would be something like this:  ESXi 5.5 host cluster -> VM guest running on ESXi cluster with guest OS 2008R2 -> VMware Server 2.0 installed on guest OS 2008R2-> VM guest running on VMware Server 2.0 with guest OS 2003

Will this work?

Although this might be technically possible, I think it would be a much better solution to run the Windows 2003 VM directly on the ESXi host.

Oh I agree completely.  That is not what the client is wanting however.
