HyperV on ESXi 5.0 - Editing the vmx

Hello All,

I have upgraded my ESXi 4.1 box to 5.0 and am trying to nest HyperV on top. (This is a lab environment)

I have followed the documentation (http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-8970)

My challenge is, whenever I edit the vmx file, it never shows in the datastore as an acceptable vmx (the icon doesn't change to the VMX icon, and I cannot add to inventory)

If I delete out the lines I inserted, then it's recognized.

I have tried adding the lines using WinSCP and vi. Either way, I'm having the same results.

Thoughts? (vmx attached)

There's a typo in your vmx file.

hypervisor.vpuid.v0 = "FALSE"

should be

hypervisor.cpuid.v0 = "FALSE"

Thanks for catching that typo.
I corrected it, but that has not changed the file status. It still doesn't show as a vmx file.

Also, as an FYI, I did double check permissions between this file and the original file. Permissions are the same.

Try using  the vSphere client to add these options.  Edit the VM settings and navigate to Options, Advanced/General, Configuration Parameters.

Oh, now I see.   You have two entries for monitor.virtual_exec.  You'll have to remove one of them.

That did it! The HyperV role installed just fine. (I'm sure you're shaking your head in dismay)

That's what I get for manually mucking with the files.

Thanks again!
