i tried the KB no luck
Call "VirtualMachine.MountToolsInstaller" for object "xxx" on vCenter Server "xxx" failed.
vix error code = 21001
Unable to install VMware Tools. An error occurred while trying to access image file "/usr/lib/vmware/isoimages/linux.iso" needed to install VMware Tools: 5 (Input/output error). Please refer the product documentation or KB article 2129825 for details about how to get VMware Tools package for this guest operating system.
You should be using open-vm-tools instead of the built-in tools.
thanks for suggestion. I though about it. Here is what i am not sure.
CentOS 7 or RHEL 7 does install open-vm-tools by default & even latest Ubuntu OS too
RHEL 6 traditinally goes with default one
So what is the best practice for tools , open-vm-tools or the default one ?
thanks
open-vm-tools
Actually, I just checked (had to refresh my memory), and I don't see open-vm-tools listed explicitly.
I would still try to install it. I can't remember if the default repos have it, but EPEL should. Obviously, if that doesn't work then you'll have to fall back to tar tools, but open-vm-tools would be preferable because you can manage it just like any other RHEL package.
