And when i try to install VMware-Tools, it just does nothing and afterwoods complains about "VMware Tools is not installed in this virtual machine". It is obscure, since i already installed some linux-systems on the ESXi server and succeeded in installing VMWare-Tools. Except for this machine. Maybe i need a special configuration?

Hello,
2 things:
-- what version of Linux? (make and kernel version would be ideal... ie... redhat 3.10-129)
-- how did you install VMware Tools?

opensuse 13.1, 64bit
The confusing about that is, that i was able to install VMware tools on another opensuse machine on the same esxi server.

Hello,
VMware Tools relies on some Perl modules as well. However, please do the install by doing the following:
-- Open up a vSphere Client Console to the VM
-- Login
-- Select Install Update Tools menu option from the Console to the VM
-- MOunt the cdrom usually using: sudo mount /dev/cdrom /mnt
-- copy the .tar.gz file from /mnt to /tmp
-- unpackage the .tar.gz file
-- run the "script" command
-- cd /tmp/vmware*
-- run the installer
on end or failure 'exit'
The result will be a typescript file. Go through that file looking for errors or post it here.

Hello,
thank you for the advices, but which cdrom should i mount to which location? I haven´t got a cdrom drive, should i mount some vmware-tools image?
regards
Hello,
When you use the menu to 'Install/Upgrade Tools' it loads up the ISO Image into the virtual CDROM slot on the VM. That is what you will be mounting. For this to work, your VM does have to virtual CDROM device available.
