osp update and reboot

Hello,

inside osp guide I have:

- remove previous version of VMware OSP

- install new version

(eg: yum install vmware-tools-nox)

- reboot and verify

Is the latest step truly necessary? In all cases or only if any particuar kernel module is used?

Can we narrow down eventually?

In my case on a test server I have 8.0.2-208167 and update to 8.3.12-493255 with remove/install

In messages I can find

so it seems it successfully unloads vmci and vmmemctl and then load them with the new versions...

relevant hw parts for my vm are e1000 for network and lsi logic parallel for scsi controller:

And another question:

how do I have to use the "versions" file under

http://packages.vmware.com/tools/versions?

For example, if I have ESX 4.1.0 build 582267

what is the latest version of OSP I can install?

I see 4.1p04 directory with files marked with 8.3.12-559003 ...

Does it mean I can install them because 559003 <= 582267 ?

It is not so clear to me...
