There is a mistake in the dependencies?

I,ve allready send this to vmware-builds@vmware.com, but there was no response.

Dear vmware-Team,

I think that I've found a mistake in your dependencies of the vmware-tools packages for Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.

Package: vmware-open-vm-tools-kmod-2.6.32-21-server

In the line depends, there is also the virtual kernel.
So lets take a look at the packages for the 2.6.32.24

Package: vmware-open-vm-tools-kmod-2.6.32-24-server

There is only the non virtual server kernel. So my virtual machines are making trouble, because they would downgrade oder change the kernel from -virtual to server.

I think the line should be:

--> Depends: linux-image-2.6.32-24-server | linux-image-2.6.32-24-virtual

I hope you understand what I mean, and probably you can fix this problem very soon.

I ran into this yesterday when setting up the VMware Tools on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.

I got it up and running but I wasn't expecting the errors and it threw me for a loop. Not as smooth as running the install in CentOS or RHEL.

Hi,

this is a new problem, vmware updated the tools for the kernel 2.6.32-24. In the old version (8.3.2), the dependencies were correct ... then they updatet (8.3.7) their repository ... and now its broken.

For me is an other OS no option, because I'm using special software. It is not very annoying, because my update scripts do not auto-update the vmware tools and the linux kernel.
