OSP LSB Dependancy?

What about the OSP requires LSB? That pulls in a load of useless crud like cups and avahi not needed on most servers?

Hello,

I think you need to open a VMware SR to get a response to that. I think there is a LSB dependency but not sure why either actually, there is no need for cups/avahi/etc. It could be due to vmware-guest which runs within X and the X system has such dependencies...

Thanks for responding Texiwill,

I later learned that the deps are a result of the lsb package only and obviously not needed by any vmware components. I am actually contributing a patch to the spec file for the open source packages to use standard shell scripting to work around the need for lsb and thus eliminate it.

Thanks!
