Insufficient Space Error Centos

I am using these directions to install VMware tools on a Linux box: VMware Knowledge Base

I keep getting this error:

There is insufficient disk space available in /var/lib Please make at least an additional 141084kb available or choose another directory.

In which directory do you want to install the common agent transient files?

I then tired /var and got the same compliant.   This is my first time install this on Centos

Don't follow those instructions for current versions of CentOS. All you need is `yum install open-vm-tools` and done.

The host does not have access to the internet.  Any other choices?
