Installing new Vmware Tools on Centos7 detected open-vm-tools

I have moved VM Centos 7 to new ESXi 6.0U2 host.

I tried to update vmware tools when I encountered the following message.

Thanks in advance and please advise.

‌Some appliances / Linux distributions come with Open VM Tools by default which is an open source alternative to VMware Tools optimised for Linux. It gets updated with OS patches rather than needing to be updated separately as with VMware Tools.

Thank you.

The message states to keep open vm tools. should I keep it or should I update using vmware tools? What is the consensus here?

Thanks in advance.

‌Yes the VMware recommendation is to use open tools as per that link for more streamlined patch management. This would be the more straight forward option unless you had reason to replace it.
