20160216 AirWatch Education Services - Updates

VMware AirWatch Message Branding

VMware AirWatch branding has been applied to all message templates in myLearn for preparation and follow-up comms. Outlook .msg email templates have also been updated and loaded to SharePoint and VCI-ACI Portal for manual comms, if necessary. Below are some minor updates to the messages:

  • Confirmation was changed to Preparation for myLearn messages, since students will already get confirmation emails sent to them when they finalize payment.
  • Added note to Academic and Success Kits where if they fail to load, an alternate browser should be used.
  • Updated plural reference where message stated workbooks would be available, but some courses only have one workbook.

NOTE: For 8.3, we plan to remove kits from CRE OG and put them into a new content OG in TRAIN9 due to failures noted with zipped content. Updates will be ready for the first week of 8.3 training; March 7th.

Global Tracker (Green Monster) RIP

  • As of the start of Feb 1st, 2016, no instructor is required to update the 00. Global Attendance Tracker in SharePoint. This new flow was documented in the updated Checklist I sent out every Wednesday for any upcoming training sessions at the start of the month. We no longer have to update this tracker, since all training sessions are hosted in myLearn regardless if they are open enrollment or dedicated.

NOTE: For non-edu instructors, you still have to send in a roster of the students who attended, so we can ensure their exams are activated in myAirWatch. The roster can be downloaded from myLearn and sent to training@air-watch.com.

Where do Students Take Exams?

To reiterate a common misunderstanding, exams for everyone are taken on the myAirWatch side except for VMware partners. Even though a student can take the exam on the VMware side, there is no data sync between the VMware side (myLearn) and myAirWatch; the AirWatch and VMware (VMstar) SFDC systems do not talk to each other for updates. We understand that students who buy on-demand courseware will take the exam on the myLearn side, but this percentage is low and we will handle data sync issues as they are reported to or team. All study kits define this flow for taking exams, except for VMware partners, who go to VMware Partner Central > Partner University.

Where are the Feb 10th VMWare Partner Portal Updates?

There is a hold up on the VMware side and changes have not been implemented yet. Our content team is working with them to align and will provide us with a new date of the planned changes. As noted earlier this would trigger VTSP Mobility to become a true pre-sales course with new content and the Configure and Manage becoming part of the post-sales reqs for partner competency.

What date are the Training Servers being Updated to 8.3?

Scheduled for March 4th, 2016. Moved to March 11th.

Where are the Monthly “Train the Trainer” (TTT) Session Dates for February?

They will be scheduled for next week. Please expect two calendar invites; NAM/EMEA and APAC/APJ. From our content team, we will have James Maltese talk about 8.3 updates.
