How to notarize an update installer

Hello,

does anyone know how the update installer for autoupdate tool can be notarized with Apple? Apple does not notarize .tgz files, but this is the only file format supported by the autoupdater for macOS ("At the moment, OS X installers are expected to be compressed in a .tgz file but future versions will allow users to use other formats.").

Hi Patrick,

The notarization process does not modify the installer (it would be optionally modified afterwards by stapling) so you could just zip the installer, submit it for notarization, then create the .tgz for the same file, and finally use it for the AutoUpdate download.
