(SOLVED) Horizon: No sound when using i3, but sound works on Gnome

Connecting through VMWare Horizon Client, if I boot with GDM into Gnome (default desktop), it automagically discovers the vmware sound devices.

When I boot into i3, the sound devices are not available. viewagent is running, just the sound discovery isn't there.

As a long-time i3 user, and lover of tiling window managers, I'm loathed to switch to Gnome...

Any suggestions are very gratefully received.

I managed to get this all working by using: https://github.com/nmakel/i3-gnome

So installed (with apt) gnome-flashback and i3, then run the makefile in the repo, reboot and everything 'just worked'.
