what are the steps to prepare winxp for creating linked clones

Hi,

I'm new to vmware VDI.

I have installed vmware view 5 evaluation version and configured winxp sp3  as guest os.

As I understand from docs that this machine should be a part of AD domain. It should obtain IP from DHCP server.

However the naming convention can be defined while creating desktop pools. I have installed View Agent in  the guest OS.

Should I copy deploy.cab in my guest os? How does Syspre/Quickpre happen? Does it take care of configuring IP and adding the linked clone to domain?

What are the step to complete before configuring desktop pools.

Thanks in advance.

All of your question are taken care of by vCenter. You may want to read that document : http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-51/topic/com.vmware.ICbase/PDF/vsphere-esxi-vcenter-server-51-virtual...

If you don't have any vCenter then any manual procedure to ghost/clone a machine can be followed. And you'll have to manually setting up the IP and adding it to the domain (or script it).
