vmware view repilca server not connecting

i have 2 vmware view servers setup, a main one that is always used, this is a physical server, and a replica vmware view server for failover purposes, this installed on a VM. both systems are Windows 2003. when i logged into the replica server the vmware connection server service was not started, i started this manually and i could log in, the server was very slow so rebooted it, everything came back up fine, i could login to vmware view. i tried to connect from a laptop onto a vm through vmware view and was unable, i then tried it through my browser and got the error below for both connections A connection to the View Server https://servername:443 could not be established.

Could not connect through proxy. Please check your proxy settings

i can log in fine with my first vmware view server

use SSL for client connections is on.

the last time i used the replica server was fine, but this was back in october 2011. the server is not used for anything else

has any one any ideas what may be causing this issue?

When you tried to connect from the laptop was this on the local LAN or from an External source?   Are you trying to use tunneling on this server?

Hi,

I assume you see this error before getting the list of desktops, during authenticating to vmware view connection server.

As indicated in error message, did you check if there is a proxy configured in your client machine? is there is a proxy exception added for first server and not for this one?

the laptop was on the local LAN, i have tried connecting through externally with a VPN connection and that worked fine, got onto the desktop of a virtual machine no problem

yes i get it before the list of desktops, i had added this to my exceptions, however i only put the server name not the FQDN, once i added the domain to the name it worked.

strange tho, the server was originally in my exceptions, i will need to check my group policy to make sure it is listed with the FQDN

thanks for that, all is working perfect now
