vmdexport question

Has anyone used "vmdexport" to create a parallel view server instead of a replica? I dont want to create a replica. i need to create a parallel environment for migration from 2.1 to 3.12.

One more question. Can i add a 3.1.2 server as a replica to a 2.1 VDM server?

vdmexport its not intended for that. use it as a backup of the vdm db.

You may want to just take a snapshot of the vdm server then do the upgrade and roll back the snapshot in case it goes wrong.

or if worse comes to worse you have a backup of the db and just reinstall vdm and use the backup of the db.
