virtual machine counter for end users. tell me how many vms are being used.

Hey everyone,

heres is the scenario. i have a 50 vm floating pool non persistent. i have 100 users entitled. so obsiouly there can be only 50 users logged in at a time.

is there some type of counter that the end user could see that says for example 30 of 50 vms are being used or to something to that effect.

as an admin i dont want to be the only one that can tell the end users that they are about to run out of Vms.

Thanks!

You have 2 options:

1. use the horizon view powercli to get the session count, and run it in schedule every couple of minutes.

2. the more elegant way is to use vcops for horizon view (v4v), which can give you this exact metric over time.

will this method display the stats to the end user?

we use the vmware horizon view client, i want the end user to somehow see a counter that says. 15 virtual machines left in this pool.
