roaming profiles in laptop and VDI view guest machines

Hi All,

I have configured roaming profile and folder redirection in laptops it is working fine. We have Vmware View for persistent desktops for users. So when user logins to VDI VM he gets the error " your outlook data file cannot be configured".  when user login to laptop outlook profile is saved in c:\users\userprofile\appdata when user later logins to VDI it cannot find the path as user profile is saved in c:\users\userprofile\appdata.

what does vmware recommended and also worka rounds to make both latop and vmware work

thanks

uday

What OS version are you using for your Machines?

Persona Management is not supported on physical desktops as of current release. So switching between physical and virtual desktops may not work properly.

What happens if your user does not log on to laptop but only switches between VDI guess machines?

we are using windows 7 all the laptops and VM.

if a user stays in between vm , no issues reported.

Just wanted to +1 neenarazdan response.  This is not supported.  However, I'll go so far as to say I don't think this will be supported any time soon.  My reason for this is why would VMware support a virtual profile solution for physical desktops.  There are already a ton of 3rd party products that do it.  If VMware were to support this they would then have to take phone calls on a physical desktop that not getting its profile correctly, this is way outside the scope of what VMware wants to focus on.  However, competively speaking Citrix does support this so they may have to do it just to compete.  I still think its gets a bit iffy, however the fact is under the sheets its just RTO Profile and we know it CAN do it, so why not...

I think it would be nice to have this... just not sure if I'd hold my breath for it.
