Is it at all possible to connect to vmware view vm's without a vpn.
I've read where it says to open some ports.
I've opened up all ports from the internet into the connection server.
I can get authenticated, select my pool.
Then it looks like it is going to start, then after 10 seconds I get the error:
The connection to the remote computer ended.
If I create a vpn connection it works just fine, but I am trying to do this without having to manage a vpn connection for 500 user's.
It also works if I use rdp with a security server, but I want to be able to use voip in my vm's, so I need to use pcoip for the best sound performance.
I tried using usb headsets with rdp, but the sound quality is unrecognizable for a user connecting over the internet.
I really just need a definate yes or no, so I can tell my boss that the only option is to use a vpn for each user.
Hello acraiger,
The PCoIP Security Server was successfully demonstrated at VMWorld back
in September:

php
However until it is released, VPN connection for external PCoIP access
is required.

Yes, you can use the View Security Server Connection Manager. I have sucessfully set it up in a test environement. You need to open port 443 and 80 and pass them through to your Security server. Check the install guide for View.

What you're describing will allow RDP connections. PCoIP is still not supported without use of a VPN.

Check out F5 they have a solution that replaces the security server and allows the use of PCoIP.
Shoot an email to support@teradici.com yes you can do this with the next version of Security Server (it was presented at VMWorld). I'm not sure what the due date is on the release yet, once I find out I'll let you know.
