linked clone

hello

is it true, that a vm in a pool with linked clone ist slower as a vm in a pool without linked clone?

when i start my "parent" vm and open Acrobat the performance is ok

when i start my vm linked clone and i open Acrobat, the speed is 10x slower as on the "parent" vm

It depends on your storage type and layout.

And if you make the test on a single VM, probably the parent VM will be faster (but 10x seems too much...).

With more VMs running, using linked clone you will have less disk blocks on the physical size, so, a good storage, with a good cache, can be faster.

Thats true. A linked clone VM in a pool is slower than the VM in a individual pool. Obviously there are other advantages of Linked clone such as

1. Faster deployments.

2. Better usage of storage.

Bottom line...It is slower when compared with individual VMs.

As Andre said....You storage plays a major role in linked clone pools.
