internal error 28014

[continuum]

trying to install VMware-viewclient-4.0.0-210939.exe on Windows 2003 I get internal error 28014

If I click OK installation continues but seems to be non-functional.

Is there a workaround ?

I do no see Windows Server as supported OS for View Client.

See at page 18 of http://www.vmware.com/pdf/view40_admin_guide.pdf

Probably there is some registry key to change to make a Windows Server act as a fake client to make View Client (and Portal) work.

yes - it is - but it was not solved last time - I only thought so but was wrong

Andre - I doubt the error is related to the unsupported OS as I only have it on one 2k3-installation. It installs fine without this message on a second 2k3.

But you still may be on the right track. If I fake identity as WINNT instead of ServerNT I only get this once - otherwise I get it twice.

Oh dear _ I wish I had a View-environment here myself - without my tests may mean nothing at all

Also if I install silently like this

start /wait vmware-viewclient-4.0.0-210939.exe /s /v/qn

I don't get any messages ....
