how to identify unused VDI workstations

I notice that a number of my VDI workstations are showing up as "Available", so they have no action sessions on them.

How can I identify those workstations that are not being used (or being rarely used)?

For example, is there a way to get a listing of all VDI workstations that have not been logged into in 90 days?  I could then contact those users and possibly reclaim and redeploy those resources.

The "Not Easy" way is in View, double-click the pool.

Go to events

Select "Time period" of "Last month"

Then Filter "logged in"

Then save that result and look at it in EXCEL.

It will give you an idea of what machines have been logged into the last month.

Are you using Persistent or non-Persistent Pools?

Sound like you should be using link-clone (non-Persistent) pools. That way you can set the Desktop Pool Sizing to dynamically adjust your pools on utilization.

That will save you time on managing your resources. You also may want to look into v4H (vROPS) to help you monitor utilization and make suggestions to improve on your performances and resources.
