My name is Robert Fassbender, I live in Eugene,Oregon. I have an old laptop, its an Inspiron 1545 by Dell, when I got it I was going to school at Pioneer Pacific and I took their computer course.

I graduated from Pioneer in 2010, I got an associate degree in Computers and Network Technology. I am not sure, can someone please help me, I know about virtualization, I heard about VMWare and I would like to add a virtual hard drive so I can install Windows XP. I already have the disk for Windows XP. I would like to put it on the laptop but not sure? Was recommended work station but

Robert, to cut a long story short:  You need a newer laptop/desktop to do anything with virtualization. Modern versions of VMware Workstation, which is VMware's PC product for running VMs, requires a CPU with certain capabilities which yours lacks. So rather than discussing anything further about how you'd go about running anything, you need to address your hardware problem first. Hope that helps.
